Waitaki Development Board Limited
The Waitaki Development Board is the Economic Development arm of the Waitaki District Council. Established in 1996 and owned 100% by Council, it is governed by an independent board of four senior industry representatives with extensive experience in financial management, marketing and corporate development.
In addition to Economic Development, the Board is also responsible for Tourism, including management of Visitor Information Centres (i-Sites) and the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. As well, it provides an umbrella support structure for a number of smaller business and community activities.

The Otago Chamber of Commerce actively promotes and encourages business growth and opportunity in Otago. The Chamber’s North Otago branch meets monthly and has access to a range of member services including training opportunities. The Chamber represents businesses on economic issues, identifies, explores and facilitates common growth issues, is a key provider of business information and facilitates networking opportunities.

Biz Information offers free help about starting or running a small business. The Otago Chamber of Commerce delivers this service in the Waitaki District. Pivotal to this program is the Biz website which offers a gateway to resources for small to medium sized businesses.

Her Business
Her Magazine is the national sponsor and administrator of Her Business networks throughout NZ. In 2006 a network was established in Oamaru for women in business. Meetings are informal, with networking, socializing, trading, mentoring and relaxing being the key ingredients. Successful role models also share their experiences, to educate and enlighten members.

Otago Southland Employers' Association
The Otago Southland Employers' Association was established in 1890 and is a Founding Member of Business New Zealand. Current membership stands at over 1,400 with some 900 of these employing less than 20 staff.
The Association

Provides advice, support and representation for employers on all aspects of employment related legislation, including ACC and Occupational Health and Safety (OSH). |

Delivers training and development programmes to business in the region. |

Represents members' interests at local and central government level and makes submissions on their behalf on district plans, draft legislation and other relevant matters. |
In addition, the Association acts as the Otago and Southland Agent for Business Mentors New Zealand, a charitable trust founded to provide free mentoring services to small businesses. The Association has its main office in Dunedin.
